COVID-19 (Coronavirus)

Important Information: Service Update and Support - 2nd April

Gloucester Grove Estate TMO, in line with Southwark Council, is committed to reducing the risk posed to all residents and members of its operational team. We would like to assure our residents that we are working hard to ensure that vital services are maintained and that our most vulnerable residents are protected.  In line with government advice, due to the ongoing public health concern around COVID-19 (Coronavirus) the TMO has had to restrict and amend the provision of some services which are outlined below.

Repairs

In line with Council guidance, the TMO housing office is concentrating efforts on providing essential services only. Non-emergency repairs will not be raised until further notice. All routine scheduled appointments have been cancelled until further notice.

With the suspension of face to face reporting of repairs at the office in place, essential repairs are to be reported either:

  • By telephone on 0203 643 6941 or
  • By email through - info@gloucestergrovetmo.org

In the event that you require an emergency repair after TMO office hours, you will need to contact Southwark Council on 0800 952 4444 or 0207 525 2600.

Please note that if you or a member of your household display symptoms of Covid-19, you must disclose this prior to an operative visiting your home.

Rent payment and service Charges

If you find that the impact of COVID-19 will impact your ability to make your rent payments, you are advised to discuss this with your Housing Officer, Miss Adebowale Mayaleke by contacting her on 0203 643 6941.  You are reminded that we are unable to facilitate a face to face appointment at this time.

The following are some useful signposts for advice and help regarding your rent:

For leaseholders, help and advice is available from Southwark Council’s and accessible via its website at https://www.southwark.gov.uk/home-owners-services/service-charges.

Estate Cleaning

There is now a reduced cleaning service in place across the estate. However, a team will continue to provide a weekly presence on the estate and will focus on the following key areas:

  • Sweeping and mopping of communal areas, lifts and lobbies.
  • Litter picking
  • Cleaning of door handles, buttons and handrails
  • Collection of dumped waste/ fly-tipping
  • Rotation of chute-fed bins

Please note that the next estate inspection which was scheduled for 8th and 9th April 2020 has now been cancelled. However, residents are encouraged to contact the TMO by phone t report any concerns noticed in relation to cleaning or grounds maintenance across the estate.

Parking

The upcoming permit scheme which was due to go live on the estate has been suspended until further notice. We will be in contact with residents with updates regarding this in item at the earliest opportunity.  Queries that relate to parking on roads designated as highways should be addressed directly to the Council by visiting southwark.gov.uk/parking.

Antisocial behaviour and noise nuisance

If you identify individuals gathering in common areas or in playgrounds on the estate, you are strongly advised to report this to non-emergency police line by calling 101. Police are currently dispersing crowds and gatherings where possible.

If you wish to report a noise complaint, you can do so by contacting Southwark Council's Noise Team on 0207 525 5777 (when the noise is occurring) or alternatively email the team on noiseandnuisance@southwark.gov.uk where a member of the team will discuss your case and give you advice.

Support for vulnerable residents

The TMO are in contact with residents who are vulnerable and most likely to need support.

Vulnerability can be due to a range of personal attributes, including health conditions, disability and age. Should you consider yourself to be vulnerable and in need of help or perhaps a neighbour, you are encouraged to contact the TMO housing office on 0203 643 6941.

Alternatively, you may also wish to self-refer, or refer a neighbour by emailing covidsupport@southwark.gov.uk where you will be sent a form for completion. If you wish to put yourself forward to become a volunteer you can visit communitysouthwark.org.

For more advice, please contact Southwark Council on 0207 525 5000 or visitsouthwark.gov.uk/covidsupport

Finally, the most important action we must all take in avoiding the spread of the disease is to stay home to protect lives and to protect the NHS. Please only leave your homes for the following:

  • Shop for food and necessities
  • To fulfil a medical need
  • To exercise once a day
  • To travel to and from work (only when absolutely necessary).
